Workers compensation is an administrative system established in the state of Georgia. It governs on-the-job injuries. If an employee is on the job and they get hurt they are entitled to three benefits.
The first benefit is medical treatment. They are entitled to medical treatment for up to 400 weeks on the injured body part by an authorized treating physician.
The second benefit they are entitled to is indemnity benefits. These are wage replacement. If an individual cannot work because of their on-the-job injury or they are placed on restrictions and the employer cannot accommodate them or can accommodate them but the individual works less, they are entitled to these types of benefits.
The final thing an individual is entitled to is a permanent partial impairment rating. This is a rating provided by a doctor after the injured worker has reached maximum medical improvement.
The trade-off for all of these benefits is that you do not get pain and suffering if you were injured on the job.
