Types of workers’ comp benefits available to injured Conyers workers

About Conyers, Georgia
Conyers is considered a suburb of Atlanta, GA. as it lies about 24 miles east of downtown. According to the most recent census, roughly 15,000 people call the Rockdale County city home. The nearby town of Milstead is now a part of Conyers, which is the county seat of Rockdale County.
The Creek and Cherokee Indians inhabited the area known as Rockdale for centuries, before European settlers began moving to the area in 1816. The first known settler was a blacksmith named John Holcomb, who constructed a log cabin on the same site where the Rockdale County Courthouse currently stands. The first businesses documented to have sprouted up around this time included a sawmill, gristmill, cotton gin and the area’s first school.
Around 1827, Holcomb was upset about the coming Georgia Railroad and sold his land to Dr. W.D. Conyers, who then offered the railroad right-of-way. Following that act, Conyers Station village was born. By 1845, the railroad ran trains between Atlanta and Augusta. In 1854, the town shortened its name to “Conyers” and had a population of about 400.
In the later half of the 19th century, Conyers gained a reputation as a wild town, with 5 brothels and 12 saloons. Over the next 50 years, the town was partially destroyed by fire 3 times. Also during that time, the city’s population boomed to 1,800 and more than 40 stores sprang up — including a hotel, a college and primary schools.
Over the next 100 years the town steadily grew, with employers like the Milstead Manufacturing Company coming and going, with a resident population now sitting at around 16,000 people. A few notable people from the Conyers area include DeForest Kelley (Dr. McCoy of Star Trek fame), sister actresses Dakota and Elle Fanning, actress Holly Hunter, NASCAR driver Chris Cockrum, and MLB pitcher Billy Buckner.
